폴 사이먼과 아트 가펑클로 이루어진 미국의 듀엣 팀. 곡들은 전부 사이먼의 작사·작곡으로 섬세한 도시감각이 충만해 있어 그의 작사·작곡가로서의 재능도 높이 평가 받았다. 연주 때는 가펑클의 맑고 높은 목소리가 중심이 되고 사이먼은 저음부를 노래하면서 기타반주를 했다. 두 사람은 초등학교 때부터의 친구로서 1964년에 내놓은 최초의 앨범 속의 《사운드 오브 사일런스》가 히트하고, 1968년에는 영화 《졸업》의 주제곡 《미시즈 로빈슨》을 불러서 유명해졌다. 이 곡들은 전부 사이먼이 작사·작곡한 것으로 섬세한 도시감각이 충만해 있어 그의 작사·작곡가로서의 재능도 높이 평가받았다. 연주면에서는 가펑클의 맑고 높은 목소리가 중심이 되고 사이먼은 저음부를 노래하면서 기타반주를 하였다. 1975년경부터 두 사람은 따로 활동하기 시작했으나 가끔 듀엣으로 출연할 때도 있었다. 1981년 진행했던 뉴욕 시 센트럴 파크에서의 무료 공연은, 약 50만명의 관객을 동원하며 역사상 가장 큰 공연으로 기록되어 있다.

사이먼 앤 가펑클의 데뷔 초 이름은 톰과 제리였다고 한다.

대한민국의 3인조 SG 워너비의 'SG'는 사이먼 앤 가펑클을 뜻하는 것이며, 이들처럼 되기를 원한다는 뜻에서 왔다고 한다.
